Altitude Gym Team

AGTeam training summer 2023

Altitude Gym’s trainers offer you weekly training during the summer! It’s an à la carte program, so you can choose the day or days that suit you best.

You have up to 1 week before each session to complete the online reservation. Athletes wishing to train twice a week can make reservations at both the Gatineau and Kanata centers. Should an athlete from the development group wish to train with the performance group, the athlete must make a request to the head coach and must have authorization and confirmation from a head coach.

Sessions will last 3 hours and the coaches in charge will be Olivier Dorion-T. (Gatineau) and Paolo Campanero (Kanata). A second coach will be present if at least 12 youngsters register for a session.

AGTeam Evaluation/Try-out, date to come

The Altitude Gym Sport Climbing Team’s programming aims to take motivated and disciplined climbing athletes to the next level with the goal of improving their performance through specific physical exercises and techniques taught by our experienced coaches, themselves passionate about sport climbing. The group environment creates camaraderie and motivation for athletes to explore their full individual potential. Coaches emphasize a healthy team culture while having fun with teammates.

The three disciplines of sport climbing are: bouldering, difficulty (lead and top) and speed. The aim of the program is to enable athletes to improve in these three disciplines and eventually compete.

Development Team
Development Team athletes are aged 8 to 14 and train 2 to 3 times a week. The Development Team season runs from September to June, with breaks during the Christmas vacations and the March school vacations. During the year, athletes at this level will be invited to participate in local or internal competitive events to gain experience and meet other young athletes with similar interests.
Performance Team
Performance Team athletes are aged 10 to 18+ and train 3 to 4 times a week. The Performance Team season runs from September to June, with breaks during the Christmas vacations and March school vacations. Depending on each athlete’s individual abilities, 4 to 10 competitive events are scheduled for Performance Team athletes. Our goals and intentions are to expose athletes to perfect their climbing techniques and help them achieve their personal goals while having fun with friends, teammates and other competitors from around the country. Altitude Gym Team athletes have demonstrated their commitment and skills by competing at local, provincial, regional and national levels. Some athletes have already participated in international competitions and the Youth Olympic Games.

A certain level of climbing ability is required and mandatory to join our Team Altitude Gym program for all new participants. Assessments will be organized at each of our facilities – Gatineau and Kanata – before the program begins. See details at bottom of page.

Our Gatineau branch offers a Sport-Études program in partnership with Mont-Bleu high school. Training sessions are Monday to Friday, from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m., for a total of 15 hours of training per week, during school hours.

If you are interested in joining this program, please contact the head coach at dnguyen@altitudegym.ca.
