The competitive team programs aim to take climbing athletes who are motivated and disciplined to the next level with the aim of improving performance. Through specific technical, physical and tactical exercises with the help of experienced coaches who themselves are passionate about sport climbing. The group environment creates camaraderie and motivation for individuals to explore their individual potential. Coaches put an emphasis on healthy team culture and having fun through hard work with friends.
The three disciplines of sport climbing are bouldering, difficulty (lead and top rope), and speed. The aim of the program is to improve in all three disciplines and eventually participate in competitions.
Pre-competitive team athletes are 8-14 years of age. They practice 2x per week for a total of 5 hours per week. The pre competitive season is from September to June with breaks for holidays and March break. 2-3 local or in house competitions are scheduled for the pre comp athletes with the intention of gaining experience and meeting other young athletes with similar interests.
Competitive team athletes are 10-18+ years of age. They practice 3-4 times per week for a total of 9-12 hours per week. The competition team season is from September to June with an optional, reduced schedule summer program. Breaks are during the holiday season and school March break. Depending on the individual abilities of each athlete 4-10 competitions are scheduled for the competitive team groups with the intention of perfecting their climbing, challenging themselves and having fun with friends, team mates and other competitors from around the country. Our competitive team athletes have participated in local, provincial, regional and national level competitions. Some have even gone on to compete in international and Youth Olympic Games competitions.
