FAQ – COVID-19
If you experience symptoms such as fever, the onset or aggravation of a cough, difficulty breathing or sudden loss of smell without nasal congestion with or without loss of taste, we ask that you do not attend the climbing center and follow Public Health protocols. Other symptoms may also appear, such as sore throat, headache, runny nose, muscle aches, unexplained intense fatigue, significant loss of appetite, vomiting or diarrhea.
When does the vaccination passport come into effect?
As of September 1st, you will be asked for proof of vaccination upon arrival at the Gatineau Climbing Center. Unfortunately, without proof of vaccination, you will not have access to the climbing center.
What can I do if I am a member but I am not properly vaccinated?
We are actively working to find creative solutions for you. You can request to freeze your membership until your vaccination passport is complete or until you are properly vaccinated by clicking on the link here.
Are any people exempt from the vaccine passport?
Children 12 years old and under and members of our Sports-Study Climbing program.
Do I have to show my proof of vaccination at every visit?
No, once we have seen your proof of immunization the first time, we will put a note on your file and you will not have to show it again.
If I have already shown my proof of vaccination in Kanata, do I have to show it again when I visit Gatineau?
No, since our systems communicate with each other, we will be able to see that you have already shown us your proof of vaccination.
At what point can I come climbing?
You need to book and pay for your climbing session via our online reservation system.
What times will the sessions be available?
9:00am – 11:00am / 11:20am – 1:20pm / 1:40pm – 3:40pm / 4:00pm – 6:00pm / 6:20pm – 8:20pm / 8:40pm – 10:40pm
How many places will be available per session?
We can accommodate a total of 80 climbers per session during the weekdays and 100 climbers in the evenings and weekends. There will be no more sections.
When can I register?
For members and punchcard holders, the registration will open 96 hours before the beginning of the session. For non-members, the registration will open 72 hours before the beginning of the session.
Can I come without having booked online?
If the climbing session has not been fully booked, it will be possible to accept clients in person, but only up to a maximum capacity of 85 climbers per session. We strongly suggest that you proceed via the online reservation system to secure your spot.
Will we have access to all sections of the climbing centre?
Yes, you will have access to the main room, the annex, the basement, the training room and the outdoor park at all time.
What is your mask policy ?
Mask is mandatory for everyone 10 years old and older. It is recommended for kids between 2 and 9 years of age. You have to wear your mask at all time in the gym. You can only remove it when you are on the wall to climb.
What type of chalk will be allowed?
Only liquid magnesia will be allowed in the centre. We will allow the use of magnesia balls only for top rope and lead climbers. We will have bottles of liquid magnesia on sale at the reception desk.
Will the restrooms and locker rooms be accessible?
You will be able to use the restrooms, however the lockers cannot be used to store your personal belongings and the showers will be closed. It is preferable that you arrive dressed and ready to climb.
Will it be possible to rent equipment?
Only climbing shoes and harnesses can be rented. Be sure to bring your belay system and rope if you wish to climb the route. Climbing shoes and harnesses will be disinfected between rentals.
What sanitary measures will be taken to ensure a safe environment?
All climbers will be asked to disinfect their hands upon arrival. We strongly encourage the continued use of hand sanitizer during the climbing session. While waiting between climbs, we ask that you keep your distance from other climbers and respect the 2-metre social distance as much as possible.
A message will be announced 10 minutes before the end of your reservation period. It is essential for all climbers to be ready to leave on time to allow our staff time to disinfect the area for the next climbing session. We allow 20 minutes for general cleaning between reservation periods.
All climbers will be asked to leave via a secondary exit door to avoid crossing climbers from the next reservation period.
Will all memberships be automatically reactivated?
Yes, all memberships from Gatineau location, regardless of duration, will be reactivated. The closing time will be automatically added to the current subscription duration. You don’t have to do anything.
What if I want to keep my membership frozen for longer?
It will not be possible to keep your membership frozen longer unless there is a reason approved in your membership purchase contract: pregnancy, major medical problem, studies, internship or work outside the region more than 100 km away. The freeze must be requested for a future period; it cannot be retroactive. Official supporting documents must be provided: medical or moving proof will be accepted. Of a minimum duration of 4 weeks, the freeze will obviously not be able to exceed the duration of the remaining membership. The frozen period will be transposed directly following the subscription or at the end of the unavailability period if it exceeds the remaining subscription period.
Will Kanata members have access to the Gatineau centre?
Kanata members who wish to unfreeze their membership for use in the Gatineau centre will have to send a written request by email to firstname.lastname@example.org so that we can proceed with the change in their membership file. Please note that once the Kanata centre reopens, you will have the choice to keep your membership in Gatineau or to transfer it back to Kanata.
Please note that as of June 22, 2020, all NEW memberships and punch cards purchased will automatically include the multigym according to the new pricing in effect.
